The eastern grey squirrel of North America is the most well-known of squirrel species. Generally intelligent and persistent it resides in residential neighbourhoods and are notorious for discovering clever methods to over come obstacles that stand in their way of food, water or whatever gets their attention. Tree squirrels create annoyances by digging up plants in pots and flower beds to pull out bulbs, to bury or recover seeds and nuts and to build nests within structures including attics and basements.
They are considered pests because of their propensity to chew on various edible and inedible objects. This trait aids in maintaining their sharp teeth and because their teeth grow continuously it helps prevent overgrowth.
