House mice are usually grey or brown in colour, small and slender weighing 20 – 30 grams. They have relatively large ears and small eyes, ranging 5-9 cm in length not including an average 3 inch tail. Although the house mouse usually feeds on cereal and grains, they will eat many kinds of food and are active at night time. They have a keen sense of hearing, taste, smell and touch. The house mouse is an excellent climber and can run along cables and or ropes with ease. They can jump roughly 10 to 13 inches from the floor onto a flat surface. They can compress their bodies and slip through a crack that a pencil will fit into, making it very hard to catch them without the use of professional traps.
